Nigerian Beans Cake (Akara Balls)

 Nigerian beans cake is also called Akara balls, but traditionally  called Akara. It is made from a bean paste or batter and deep fried in hot oil. Akara balls is a popular food on any Nigerian street. It is usually taken with cornmeal traditionally  called 'eko or agidi' and bread. It is easy to make and doesn't take much time. So let's dive in. 


Ingredients 
* 2 cups of beans 
* 5 habanero pepper 
* 1large onion
* 1red bell pepper 
* 1red chili pepper 
* Vegetable  oil (for frying) 
* 2 stock cube
* salt to taste
* 1egg 



Procedures 
* Wash and peel beans. 
* Wash  2 habanero, 1bell and 1red chilli pepper and add to the beans.
* Pour the beans and pepper into a blender, add a little water and blend until smooth. (Bean batter must not be watery) 
* Pour batter into a bowl.
* Wash and thinly slice the remaining  habanero pepper and onion and add into the      batter.
* Season the batter with stock cube and salt and stir vigorously until batter is fluffy.
* Add one egg into the batter and stir together using a wooden spoon or a balloon.        whisk. 
* Heat oil in a sauce pan. 
* scoop batter using a ladle into the hot oil and deep fry both side.
* Place in a sieve to extract oil.
* Serve Akara balls with hot pap, custard or oatmeal.
